Reading Spaces

The new semester started with a London study day - tour and talk at RIBA, meal and some socialising before attending the Concrete Elegance evening lecture at the Building Centre. Thanks to Ros and Liz at RIBA for interesting and educational tours and talks. Really interesting Concrete Elegance lectures as usual. Now we will start ideas on the project and take into account the learning from the visit.

lending library
n
1. (Library Science & Bibliography) the department of a public library providing books for use outside the building. Also called (esp US): circulating library
2. (Library Science & Bibliography) a small commercial library Source: http://www.thefreedictionary.com

The 5CTA1038 Design Studio Inside Out module follows on from the group project in the first week of semester B, Immersive Spaces. The knowledge gained from the group project should be evident in your design projects.
Focus is on space and place, awareness of sensory qualities in design and architecture through creation of spatial narratives and scenarios. The notion of place will act as a catalyst for innovative investigation and design development. You have already considered the design stages in the first semester, making sure that the process follows a clear path, is recorded and experimental. Final proposals must show evidence of a thorough design process, use of relevant research, creative thinking and problem solving.
