27/1     Lecture 1: Module Intro, assessment and housekeeping/Design Process
Introducing module and project briefs, dates, assessment info recap. Expectations of lev5 semester B, highlighting any issues in sem A and discussion on students’ expectations. Skills audit.

27/1     Lecture 2: Reading Spaces. Libraries and other Learning Environments
Initiating project on learning environments, based on traditional library; we will investigate and expand the idea of the library and what the library means today and how this can act as a catalyst for concept development for individual and unique ‘sharing of knowledge spaces’. Linking to RIBA visit and tour 29/1.

29/1     Lecture 3: Concrete Elegance, Building Centre, London
RIBA Evening lecture series. Students will take part in Q&A session and networking event.

3/2       Lecture 4: Site, building and beyond
Site analysis and exploration of building, site, terrain and environmental factors, materials and surfaces.
Addressing issues/problem solving. Design process/Linking to RIBA work stages.

10/2     Lecture 5: Case studies/Design strategies
Relevant and innovative case studies.

24/2     Lecture 6: Concept Diagrams
Diagrams in Interior Architecture; how to explore, understand and explain design solutions through diagrammatic approaches.

3/3       Lecture 7: Phenomenology and Sensory Space – space and place
Understanding theories and concepts of sensory, experiential, interactive and responsive design.

3/3       Lecture 8: Sustainable Design and Innovation
Looking at sustainability with emphasis on innovation and technology in interior architecture.

10/3     Lecture 9: Trends in design/Branding
As above, trends, branding and current aspects relating to projects. Discussions and activities.

10/3     Lecture 10: Presentation Techniques
Presentation techniques, communication and presenting work to an audience/client. Analysing recorded student presentations. Discussions and activities.

24/3     Lecture 11: Communication: Preparing for presentations; portfolio and exhibition
As above, focus on visual graphic and 3D presentations, for portfolio, screen, online, exhibitions.
